About TPR
The TPR forums are the heart of the community, like minded people together within a family friendly community site. TPR was formed with one thing in mind, FUN. That may be fun through participation of a Distributed Computing Project, or simply from enjoying the ramblings of our worldwide community. Since the TPR birth in 2001, we have found many new friends, and we have supported many members through suffering. The TPR family will always remember those who have since left this world.
The original TPR first page content was written by Riddlermarc, and although Marc recently lost his battle with cancer (read his story here), his words will always remain. RIP Marc.
"If you're new to the Team, or are just visiting the site let me fill you in...
Team Phoenix Rising was formed by a disenchanted few members from other Teams, realising that the only way to be in a Team they were happy with was to start a new one.
The name was not chosen, it more or less just happened... the new Team was indeed a Phoenix rising from the ashes and we are proud of our Team.
We have our own forums, where you can drop in for a beer and recant wild stories filled with wondrous SETI exploits, or slide into the Mos Eisley Cantina to talk about total... well, whatever you want.
We are a dedicated bunch of SETI crunchers, a lot of us having been in the project from it's early stages... so don't be shy, drop into the forums and say Hi..."
TPR History
Team Phoenix Rising was started from a few like minded people who had a vision of equality. All members have the same "ranking", regardless of forum post counts or numbers of points in any given project. The team participated very strongly in the original Seti project, now affectionately known as "Seti Classic".
The TPR forums quickly grew, and so did the crunching power, the final TPR Seti Classic stats can be found here.
Funding
Team Phoenix Rising is funded by members donations and through monies collected by affiliate links to many popular online stores. When looking at a new online purchase, visit www.crunchyhog.co.uk and check first - with little effort you could help fund the best online community!
Archived TPR Sites
The members of Team Phoenix Rising like to remember the past. Here are some links to older versions of the Team Phoenix Rising websites.
1. Original version of TPR
2. The previous incarnation, using PHP website so all could contribute, in reality the site content never changed!
3. The brief incarnation of a TPR gaming clan, we still play online games together. This is activity of TPR that is very seasonal, many more games are played during the UK winter.
